Quick Smart: Why the early bird catches the IT top talent

How long does it take to hire the perfect IT professional? More and more hiring managers are realising that when it comes to securing the best candidate, it pays to have streamlined hiring processes.

In the first calendar quarter of 2017, we’re already seeing more technology jobs available than in recent years. There’s more competition for top talent, and some hiring managers are missing out on quality candidates if their hiring processes are too slow.

Increased competition is affecting skilled IT professionals

Sought-after skillsets are in more demand than ever before and are adding incredible value to organisations. But if the hiring process from application to interview to offer takes longer than an average time-to-hire of 7-14 days, excellent candidates are being scooped up by competitor companies who offer a far quicker and more streamlined process.

My advice to IT hiring managers?

It’s important to remember to prioritise and recognise key hires. Quality candidates are generally receiving multiple job offers, and if one company has made them an offer while you’re still deliberating post-interview, you risk losing the candidate, and may find yourself back at square one – sifting through applications.

The good news? Great people are getting excellent offers. But it’s raised the bar for the rest of us. Don’t get left behind.
